Jason’s dedication to public health issues earned him a 2016 Healthy Cities Champion Award from the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health. Jason worked to help cities adopt changes that prevent chronic disease and injury including healthy transportation options like biking and walking, reducing tobacco use, and encouraging healthy food and beverages. As Mayor, Jason championed tough anti-smoking laws and proposed healthy food and beverage policies. Jason worked to make Campbell more bikeable and walkable, hosted a safe routes to school symposium, and walked with schoolkids in a safe routes to school event to get them started out right. Jason spent his time as Mayor working for more bikeracks and green bikelanes in Campbell. With the help of many others, Jason was proud to open the Campbell Portals project, which helped make walking or biking from downtown to the Pruneyard much easier and more inviting. Throughout his tenure, Jason was also a strong advocate for public parks. During the depths of the recession, Campbell found the money to take a unique opportunity to invest in a new park. During his last year as Mayor, Jason prioritized investing heavily in new parks and new park amenities to add to Campbell’s place as a top notch recreation community.
