Jason got his start in Campbell public policy volunteering on a ballot measure to help the County library system get the funding it needed to continue its world-class service. He has been a fierce supporter of libraries ever since. Jason served on the Board of the Santa Clara County Library District for six years, including serving as Chair. Jason believes access to libraries is fundamental to a healthy democracy. That’s why he voted to remove the $80 fee that had been charged to out of District residents, including San Jose residents. San Jose residents, and anyone, can get a District library card for free once again. Jason supported better technology, more hours and customer surveys to help ensure the District was meeting the needs of its customers. When the next ballot measure came up because the District’s funding mechanism was again expiring, Jason volunteered again, helped craft the measure and campaign to get the funds to keep the library functioning as the best in its class in the nation.
