Homelessness and Affordable Housing
Our region is suffering from a homelessness and affordable housing crisis. Affordable housing is the key to sustaining the vitality of our region. Other areas in the United States are competing with Silicon Valley. Hence, we risk losing our economic competitiveness and our place as an innovation capital if service workers, teachers, and the next generation cannot afford to live here. Therefore, we must work together for affordable housing.
Jason helped approve affordable housing near transit in Campbell. Jason advocated for affordable housing countywide. He helped form a toolbox of affordable housing policies and practices adopted by cities throughout the county. He also served as the cities’ representative to the County’s housing task force which helped pave the way for the groundbreaking measure A—a $950 million measure to address homelessness and affordable housing. Furthermore, Jason championed new ways for cities in our county to work cooperatively to put the right affordable housing projects in the right places, where the density and transit options make sense.
