Emergency Preparedness

Jason is focused on emergency preparedness. His career in public service has been bookmarked by working to help make sure our region is prepared for man-made and natural disasters. Jason was unanimously selected by his peers to serve as Chair of the Santa Clara County Emergency Preparedness Council, a county-wide body with representatives from all 15 cities. As Chair, Jason helped conceive of, create and later serve as founding chair for the new and improved successor body, the Santa Clara County Emergency Operational Area Council. Because of this new council Jason helped create, County and City leaders now sit together for the first time on the same body with Police Chiefs, Fire Chiefs, Public Health officials, Transportation professionals and others to make sure our county is prepared. Jason also helped create and then chaired the body’s Mass Care and Shelter subcommittee to ensure our county is better prepared to care for and shelter those who are affected by any major disaster. Jason has supported and is a champion for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) efforts, which allow citizens to be trained to help themselves and their community after a disaster. Jason also served as a speaker at the County’s 10th Annual Collaborating Agencies’ Disaster Relief Effort (CADRE) conference, which featured the theme of Relationships, Readiness, Resilience”. His remarks focused on the role of faith-based groups and other engaged citizens can play in making our community more resilient.
