Jason’s dedication to public health issues earned him a 2016 Healthy Cities Champion Award from the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health. Jason worked to help all cities in the County do better on public health issues including healthy transportation options like biking and walking, reducing tobacco use, and encouraging healthy food and beverages.
A focus of Jason’s career in public service has been working to help make sure our region is prepared for man-made and natural disasters. Jason was unanimously selected by his peers to serve as Chair of the Santa Clara County Emergency Preparedness Council, a county-wide body with representatives from all 15 cities.
Jason is committed to our environment. He helped lead nine cities in a groundbreaking effort to adopt the Community Choice Energy, offering valley residents a choice of cleaner power: 100% carbon-free, cleaner, greener electricity at competitive rates.
Jason has broad experience with transportation and traffic relief. Jason was an early and key Leader on 2016’s Measure B, the $6.3 Billion traffic relief and transportation measure. He helped shape the expenditure plan, voted to put it on the ballot and helped get it passed.
Our region is suffering from an affordable housing crisis. Working together for affordable housing is key to sustaining the vitality of our region. There are other areas in the United States competing to be Silicon Valley.
